The School of Human Evolution and Social Change (SHESC) at Arizona State
University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with
advanced expertise in social science research methods, including
statistics. Anticipated start date is August 2017.  This position is part
of a cluster of hires, in collaboration with ASU’s Institute for Social
Science Research (https://issr.asu.edu),to advance  the university’s global
leadership in social science methods innovation and training. We seek
applicants with an established record of research that deploys advanced
social science research methods to study pressing social questions that fit
the intellectual mission of the School (https://shesc.asu.edu), and with a
capacity to teach advanced statistics to undergraduate and graduate
students in the range of social science programs offered across the School
(e.g., global health, anthropology, and environmental social science) and
the University.

The successful candidate is expected to teach advanced social science
statistics and social science methods at the graduate and undergraduate
level, mentor both undergraduate and graduate students, conduct
collaborative research, present research findings in peer-reviewed
scholarly outlets and in public fora, seek external funding, and provide
service to the university and profession.

*Minimum qualifications:*

·        Ph.D. in social statistics, sociology, policy, political science,
epidemiology, econometrics, anthropology or related fields by the time of
appointment

·        A strong record of research accomplishments, appropriate to time
since Ph.D.

·        A record of or demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching



*Desired qualifications:*

·        Evidence of success in obtaining external funding

·        Experience teaching in a variety of modalities (e.g. classroom,
hybrid, online)

·        Demonstrated record of collaborative experiences with
interdisciplinary research teams

·        Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student
populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities
