Announcements Opened on September 2, 2016

*CDC Global Health Programs’ New Open Continuous Vacancy Announcements
Opened on September 2, 2016*

The CDC Global Health Programs will post the 2015-2016 Global Health Open
Continuous Vacancy (OCV) announcements for the majority of overseas
positions to be filled opened on *September 2, 2016*. The OCVs posted
include four positions at multiple grade levels each. The positions
included this year are Public Health Advisor (Management & Operations and
Technical), Medical Officer, Epidemiologist and Health Scientist.

*What are Open Continuous Vacancy announcements (OCV)?*

Open Continuous Vacancy announcements (OCV) are job announcements posted at
USAJOBS.GOV that represent CDC Global Health programs’ vacancies in all the
available locations under the same job title at several grade levels. For
example, candidates applying to the Epidemiologist vacancy will be
considered for all Epidemiologist positions throughout the year, in the
locations that the candidate selected during the application process, at
either the GS-13, 14, or 15 grade levels.

OCV are used to hire staff for 80% of our overseas positions and candidates
applying to one OCV are considered for all vacancies under the same job
tile. OCV can be either internal or external announcements, primarily
distinguished by the letter following HHS-CDC-*OM* (internal) or *OD*
(external).

If you are a permanent employee or CC officer make sure you are applying on
the internal (OM#) application.

Apply on the external application (OD#) if you have no prior federal
employment or are a CC officer applying to become a government employee and
submit the paperwork required, if applicable.

*Why do Global Health Programs use OCVs?*

By using this mechanism the CDC Global Programs ensure a constant pool of
applicants ready for selection into their vacancies and, at the same time,
applicants do not have to continuously apply to every individual vacancy as
they become available. OCV applications are used by multiple Global Health
programs, therefore applications need to include complete details of your
professional background. Applications must also include complete resumes
detailing your duties in each position. All questions should be carefully
and completely answered and you must submit all your documentation as
stated and requested in each OCV at the time of application.
