JOB OVERVIEW
The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) at the Zuckerberg San
Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is recruiting a 100% FTE Research
Analyst. This position would involve overall research support for multiple
research studies focusing on using health information technology to improve
health communication and the safety of care delivery for vulnerable
patients, working under one faculty members/principal investigators (PIs).
General research tasks for this position include: qualitative analysis of
videorecorded data (patient-clinician interactions) and written data
(clinical documentation in electronic health record notes); scripting,
recording, editing, and production of videos about patient-clinician
communication; recruitment and structured 1:1 and focus group interviewing
of research participants (patient and health care team members);
quantitative and qualitative data tracking and data entry/management; and
compilation of literature and references for manuscript, IRB, and grant
writing.

Administrative tasks include some assistance with purchasing, scheduling,
and reimbursements. The main study focuses on understanding how
patient-provider communication, provider documentation, patient
satisfaction, and provider stress change with the implementation of an
electronic health record systems (EHRs). In addition to analyzing existing
data, the project will involve creating, implementing, and evaluating a
curriculum to train providers in patient-centered communication in the era
of EHRs.
