*Responsibilities *

·         Serve as a core teaching faculty within the SSBS (¾ load)

o   Teach undergraduate human services coursework (12-15hrs/yr). Courses
within the curriculum include:

§  Social Science Research & Writing

§  Abnormal Psychology

§  Theories of Counseling & Psychotherapy

§  Understanding Diversity in Human Services

§  Family Services

§  Field Experience

§  Counseling Lab

§  Human Services, Faith & Ethics

o   Teach graduate counseling coursework (3-6hrs/yr)

§  Open to areas of specialization

§  The Graduate Counseling Program coursework is taught in a hybrid
modality, with courses requiring 2 weekend residencies on the JUTN campus
(Knoxville).

·         Serve as the Assistant Dean of the SSBS (¼ load). Specific to the
Florida campus (JUFL), this includes:

o   Oversight of the Human Services program

§  Help develop the course schedule

§  Help develop the SSBS budget

§  Oversee the course evaluation process

§  Work with Registrar to advise transfer students

§  Work with the Assessment Coordinator to assess SSBS courses

§  Represent the SSBS in recruitment of students

o   Liaison on behalf of the SSBS and JUFL among faculty and administration

§  Chair SSBS faculty meetings on Florida campus

§  Oversee Adjunct Faculty in SSBS

§  Facilitate active communication among SSBS faculty and between SSBS
faculty and other Schools’ faculty

§  Identify/assess faculty needs; work with Dean to identify and
communicate with potential faculty members; be involved in the interview
and hiring process of new faculty members

§  Communicate Academic Council and other policy changes to Florida SSBS
faculty

·         University and School-related administrative duties



*Qualifications*

*Required*

·         Doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision, Family
Therapy, or related field

·         Licensure or license eligibility in Florida either as Mental
Health Counselor (LMHC) and/or Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)

·         Status as an Approved Supervisor (AAMFT) or Approved Clinical
Supervisor (NBCC), or willingness to obtain credential

·         Demonstrated service to the profession and the broader community
through local, regional, and national affiliations



*Preferred*

·         Certification as a Florida School Counselor and/or Tennessee
Professional School Counselor

·         Licensure or license eligibility in Tennessee as either a
Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) and/or
Marital & Family Therapist (LMFT)

·         Experience working in multicultural context

·         Demonstrated ability to engage undergraduate and graduate
students in professional research

·         Experience supervising student-therapists

Founded in 1893, Johnson University is a private, coeducational institution
offering associates, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Johnson
educates students for Christian ministries and other strategic vocations

The School of Social & Behavioral Sciences encompasses three entities:

1)      The Undergraduate Division housing a program in Human Services,
with concentrations in Counseling and in Community & Family. Additionally
the School collaborates with the School of Congregational Ministry to
provide a Lay Counseling Ministry degree online and in hybrid format.

2)      The Graduate Division housing programs in Marriage & Family
Therapy/Clinical Mental Health Counseling and in School Counseling.

3)      The University Counseling Center, providing services to the TN
campus and surrounding community.
