*Full-time Research Position*

* Mailman School of Public Health – Columbia University*



The Department of Sociomedical Science, Mailman School of Public Health,
Columbia University, seeks to fill a full-time programmer/ data analyst
position with the Community Health Advisory Project, a nationally known,
ongoing, longitudinal study of individuals living with HIV/AIDS or at high
risk of infection  in New York City. The goals of the research are to
provide policy relevant data on the need for health and social services,
client experiences with services, and outcomes of services for health,
mental health, and quality of life. This work contributes directly to the
planning for HIV and support services available to individuals and
communities affected by HIV in the greater New York City area. Project

*Position Description*

The programmer/ analyst’s responsibilities include providing programming
support for data file creation and analysis of quantitative survey data,
maintaining client tracking and data management systems, and updating
Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) programs. Incumbent will also
assist project Senior Investigators with data analysis and report writing
and work with data entry staff under the supervision of the Senior Data
Analyst.   The Community Health Advisory Project provides an excellent
opportunity for junior investigators  interested in research methodology,
medical and social service outcomes, health disparities, and health policy
issues as well as HIV/AIDS as an important public health issue.   Ample
opportunity to contribute to presentations and reports for community and
professional audiences.



*Qualifications*

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1.5 years of
related experience or equivalent in education and training. Experience with
database and statistical software required using the following
applications: STATA, Ci3 and LOTUS or other relational database program.
Experience with software for analysis of qualitative data is a plus.
Master’s Degree preferred.
