The American Federation of Teachers is seeking candidates for a position
that will expand our work and advocacy on behalf of children in schools and
their communities.

As a labor union, we want to develop strategies that will assure our
members' perspective and voice in children's health policy issues at the
local, state and federal level (with a focus on policies for schools). In
addition, we want to expand our work at the local level with community
groups to advocate for children's health and well-being and to develop
cooperative programs. This position will be in the AFT health and safety
department in Washington DC. We are a small department of three people.
This work is new to us. Our primary focus to date has been in occupational
and environmental health. We welcome working with a new colleague on
children's issues and receiving new insights on our current initiatives.
This is a permanent position (not tied to any grant funding). If anyone has
any questions, they can contact me, Darryl Alexander at 202-393-5674.
Interested applicants should email their resume to the AFT Human Resources
Department : http://www.aft.org/about/jobs/
