Hi everyone,

We are hiring for a demographer in the research shop here at the Alaska
Department of Labor. Alaska is a fascinating place to carry out population
research, and we have a database of Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend
applicants that can be used for diverse and detailed analyses. The
demographer will work with me in the development and production of
population estimates and projections, and related reports and articles.
New ideas and innovations for improvement would be encouraged.

Here is the web address for the position announcement:
http://notes4.state.ak.us/wa/postapps.nsf/997aaae09c093ddd8925643e0063742b/0e0cac57baabaafc892578ba000e2c35?OpenDocument

You can also go to www.workplace.alaska.gov , then 'View Career
Opportunities' -> 'Title' -> 'Demographer'.

Minimum qualifications for the position:
A bachelor’s degree in demography/population studies, statistics,
sociology, economics, anthropology, geography, urban/regional planning, or
public health/epidemiology
AND
Two years of professional experience conducting studies, which included
demographic considerations, and required analyzing data, interpreting
results, and producing estimates or projections.

Or substitution:
A master’s degree in demography/population studies, statistics, sociology,
anthropology, geography, urban/regional planning, or public
health/epidemiology.

The position will be open to applicants until July 19.

Please feel free to distribute to anyone who might be interested in the
position, and to contact me with questions (eddie.hunsinger at alaska.gov).

Best regards,

Eddie
