Executive Director
We welcome applications to join BIDS as our next Executive Director, where
you will contribute to a strong and cohesive community of researchers
around data science at Berkeley and beyond.

The BIDS Executive Director, reporting to the BIDS Faculty Director, is
responsible for the administration and operations of the Institute’s
signature programs, provides senior management oversight, facilitates
strategic planning processes, administers the program budget and other
related resources, and serves as a primary contact for external
constituents of the Institute.

Founded in 2013, BIDS continues to build on recent innovations in data
science so that they can be applied effectively to domain science
challenges. BIDS is a vibrant and friendly data science community that
attracts and supports researchers from a diverse cross section of
disciplines, including the the natural sciences, social sciences,
engineering and humanities. We bring researchers together through a number
of different pathways (including fellowships, postdocs, memberships, and
staff appointments) and host a variety of activities (including lectures,
hackathons, bootcamps) to help train the next generation of data
scientists, and to support a growing portfolio of software development and
research projects.
