 The School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University
(Tempe) invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor whose
research and teaching focus is on Latina/o politics, race/ethnicity and
U.S. politics, broadly defined. The anticipated start date is August 2018.



The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development; teach
at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels as appropriate;
supervisor honors, masters and doctoral students; conduct research
publishable in top-tier academic journals in the discipline; participate in
professional and university service; develop grant proposals for external
funding as PI or co-PI.



The position is open regarding particular substantive dimensions and
theoretical perspectives emphasized, as well as methodological approach
(es).  Along with the emphasis on Latina/o politics, additional
consideration will be given to candidates whose scholarship incorporates
analysis across various racial/ethnic groups in the U.S. and to related
factors (such as class and gender), and across various realms of politics
(such as institutions, behavior, and combinations thereof).



Minimum Qualifications: candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Political Science
or related discipline by the time of appointment; demonstrated excellence
in research commensurate with appointment at the level of assistant
professor; demonstrated potential to establish a strong, externally-funded
research program; and evidence of promise in and commitment to
undergraduate and graduate teaching.



Desired qualifications: demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse
student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities; a research
focus with the potential to advance the mission of the School of Politics
and Global Studies especially in the areas of Latina/o politics and
race/ethnicity and U.S. politics; a clear record of, or clear potential
for, publishing in top journals and/or top university presses.



The application deadline is October 30, 2017; if not filled, then every two
weeks thereafter until the search is closed. A complete application must
include the following: a letter of application stating qualifications,
experience, research plans, and teaching interests; a complete curriculum
vita; a writing sample, and contact information for three references.
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree completed by August 1, 2018.
