The Applied Research and Program Evaluation (ARPE) group of the UMass
Donahue Institute<http://www.donahue.umassp.edu/> (UMDI) is searching for a
Research Analyst to join our team. ARPE conducts social science research
projects in direct response to specific client needs. Research Analysts
contribute to all aspects of project implementation, and generally are
responsible for engaging in activities related to data collection,
analysis, and reporting of findings. Research Analysts are expected to have
a solid understanding of research and evaluation methodologies, to
independently manage data collection activities, and to contribute to
summarizing and presenting findings to meet the needs of clients.
Minimum Qualifications
*         Master's degree in education, public policy, sociology,
psychology, or other relevant social science discipline, or Bachelor's
degree with two years of professional research experience.
*         Proficiency with Microsoft Office and substantive experience
using data analysis software (SPSS, SAS, or STATA) is required.
*         Strong attention to detail, high levels of accuracy and the
necessity to meet deadlines.
*         Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting,
and with varying amounts of support, as project assignments may require.
Preferred Qualifications
*         Direct relevant professional experience in applied research and
program evaluation.
*         Advanced quantitative analysis methods such as multi-level
modeling, time series analysis, item response theory analysis, propensity
score matching/weighting
*         Proficiency with research tools such as Qualtrics, Tableau,
ArcGIS, or custom database applications
*         Qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews, and
focus groups. Experience with qualitative analysis tools such as NVivo or
ATLAS.ti
*         Strong written and oral communication skills as evidenced through
reports, publications, conference presentations, etc.
Additional Details
*         The salary range for this position is $42,000 - $50,000.
*         This is a full-time benefited position located in either Hadley
or Shrewsbury, Massachusetts
*         No relocation assistance provided

*UNI CSBR Postdoctoral Scholar*

Assists with the direction and implementation of program/project
evaluations and survey projects related to a variety of areas with a focus
on education, public health and natural resources;


Pursues individual research in survey methods or disciplinary scholarship;
conducts applied and methodological research (quantitative, qualitative or
mixed-methods) in a highly collaborative setting;


Receives training and assists with grant and contract proposal writing for
federal, state and private funding opportunities;


Receives training in responsible conduct of research and AAPOR TI
requirements;


Attends Center for Social & Behavioral Research (CSBR) meetings and attend
other departmental colloquia and or related events of interest;


Trains and supervises master-and undergraduate-level students.


Doctoral degree or equivalent​ in applied research methods, survey methods,
psychology, sociology, demography, public health or related field required.

​Doctoral degree must be earned within the past three years and the degree
must be conferred no later than the position start date.​

Demonstrated knowledge of both quantitative survey science and experience
with qualitative methods; demonstrated knowledge of at least one
statistical analysis package or program (R, SAS, SPSS) required. Student
experience will be considered.

Experience with program/project evaluation preferred.
