*Social Science Researcher on Immigration and Refugee Studies*

The Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS), an educational
institute/think tank devoted to the study of international migration, seeks
to hire an experienced researcher. The position will report to CMS’s
Executive Director (ED).  The researcher’s responsibilities will be varied,
but will include substantial fieldwork in immigrant and refugee
communities. CMS hopes to attract an innovative and dynamic researcher who
will identify, develop, manage and deliver research projects utilizing
qualitative and quantitative methods and project management skills.
Responsibilities will include:

·  Structuring and organizing research projects

·  Participating on advisory teams and working with CMS’s partners on
collaborative research projects

·  Engaging diverse stakeholders (including UN officials, academics,
policymakers, non-governmental agencies, faith-based organizations, and
others)

·  Working closely with CMS’s ED, staff and editors of CMS’s two journals,
IMR and JMHS.

·  Co-authoring proposals and grants to secure new funding

·  Supporting the delivery of knowledge and the dissemination of work
products, including reports, briefs, blogs, presentations, policy
briefings, academic conferences, and others.

*Required Qualifications:*

·  A completed postgraduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant social
science discipline

·  At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in research applied to social
issues, particularly pertaining to migration in the Americas, through
working in academia and/or within research organizations

·  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and
follow through on issues in a timely manner

·  A track record of organizing and leading research projects, preferably
in immigration and refugee communities

·  Experience with leading, managing and working in collaborative teams

·  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability
to summarize and synthesize complex information accurately and concisely

·  Proven ability to work with  quantitative and qualitative research
methods

·  Experience in gathering, parsing, and analyzing data, and developing
recommendations based on findings

·  Strong proficiency with a statistical package and knowledge and
experience with the American Community Survey and other relevant datasets
are a plus

Salary is commensurate with experience. CMS offers excellent benefits,
including a generous health insurance plan, dental and vision coverage, and
a tax-deferred annuity plan.  Proficiency in Spanish and other languages
preferred.
