Mathematical Statistician, GS 1529-14



The Economic Statistical Methods Division (ESMD) has an opening for a
mathematical statistician in the Research and Methodology Area under the
Measurement and Response Improvement Methodology Director.  This is a
supervisory position as the Chief of the Nonresponse and Response
Improvement Staff.



The incumbent will directly supervise a small staff, as well as lead
cross-Directorate research teams through building coalitions and
collaborative relationships.  Specifically, the staff chief provides
analytical and research support to Economic survey and census program areas
regarding nonresponse bias studies; design and evaluation of experiments
related to response improvement, measurement error reduction, and contact
strategies; paradata evaluations; and investigation into and use of new and
emerging statistical methodologies to assess impact of data collection
instruments and procedures on data quality and summary statistics.



Desired skills include proficiency in estimation, expertise in statistical
modeling and multivariate methods, strong skills in statistical programming
and data management, and demonstrated ability to creatively apply
alternative statistical methods in measurement error research. Strong
communication skills are a must.
