The Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) is a research center dedicated to
improving the health of Chicago’s urban communities. Led by a team of
committed and energetic social epidemiologists, the Institute provides
evidence-based examination of community health status, the effectiveness of
interventions and clinical care, and health-care delivery methodologies.

We are seeking a program evaluation manager to:

Ø  serve as the lead evaluator for Sinai Community Institute’s (SCI) menu
of social service programs

Ø  oversee evaluation technical assistance for grantees of a prominent
Chicago foundation

Ø  manage all aspects of grant funding including writing proposals,
managing project budgets, and submitting funding reports

Ø  supervise two support staff and one project fellow

Specific responsibilities related to evaluation will include: providing
evaluation training in monitoring and evaluation methods; assisting in the
development of programs goals, objectives, logic models, and evaluation
plans; overseeing the creation of data collection and analysis tools
including surveys and databases; coordinating quarterly technical
assistance meetings; overseeing data analysis for internal or external
reporting; writing full evaluation reports of programs; and serving as an
evaluation expert on advisory boards and committees. This individual will
work under the guidance of the assistant director of SUHI. The selected
applicant will also be expected to assist on other SUHI projects and work
on the intellectual development of the Institute as a whole as time
allows.

The successful applicant should:

Have a Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a closely related
field *and* at least *5 *years of program evaluation experience *OR* have a
Ph.D. in Public Health, Social Work or a closely related field

  Be experienced conducting evaluation of social services programs

Have experience supervising staff

Excellent database development skills (Microsoft Access) and management
experience for program evaluation

Ÿ  Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a
variety of audiences

Ÿ  Be comfortable working with others in a team environment

Ÿ  Be able to multi-task and prioritize

Ÿ  Be willing and able to travel to different communities in the city

Ÿ  Experience with SAS or Stata a plus

An interest in social epidemiology and the use of epidemiological research
and investigation as tools in addressing the needs of urban and vulnerable
communities are a plus.
