There is a leadership position open with the National Health Interview
Survey (NHIS) at the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).  This
position is the branch chief for the Survey Planning and Special Surveys
Branch in my division.  It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to
lead a team of 9 outstanding survey methodologists working on issues
related to questionnaire development, nonresponse, paradata, incentives,
responsive design, and other applied methodological topics for the NHIS.
We are eager to find someone who can oversee a program of survey methods
research to improve data quality and help guide the redesign of the NHIS
questionnaire.



The NHIS is the nation’s principal source of information on the health of
the civilian noninstitutionalized population of the United States and is
one of the major data collection programs at NCHS.  The incumbent in this
position was Marcie Cynamon, who is now the Division Director.  This
is a *wide-open
announcement*, there are no front runners, and I hope that you will
