The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology (OST-R)
seeks a Statistician to join our team.  OST-R coordinates the U.S.
Department of Transportation's (DOT) research programs and is charged with
advancing rigorous analysis and the deployment of cross-cutting
technologies to improve our Nation's transportation system.  This position
is located in the Office of Survey Programs (OSP), which is part of OST-R’s
Bureau of Transportation Statistics.  The OSP designs, develops and
conducts quality survey programs to capture information on the
transportation system to advance effective transportation decision making.



We are seeking a talented professional who can work collaboratively with
all levels of project staff, key internal and external stakeholders, and
others to explore innovative methods of data collection and survey design
in improving and initiating survey programs.  Strong communication skills,
coordination abilities and team work are needed to be successful in this
important role.  The survey statistician is responsible for developing,
implementing, and managing transportation surveys, as well as researching
and analyzing administrative and auxiliary data sources that can be used to
further enhance transportation databases.  In addition, the survey
statistician position also involves publishing, and disseminating data that
describe the characteristics, performance, use, and impact of the Nation's
transportation systems.
