**POSITION: Research Project Director**
*DEPARTMENT:*HIV CENTER FOR CLINICAL & BEHAVIORAL STUDIES
*DUTIES:*The project that this person is being hired for is an NIMH
funded R01 focused on the mental health and risk behaviors of youths
with and without a stigmatized chronic illness, HIV. The Research
Project Director will be responsible for the following:
·Oversee all aspects of the research study, collaborate with
institutions involved in the study, and taking a direct role in the
implementation of an organizational infrastructure for the study.
·Oversee all aspects of data management,working closely with the PI,
co-investigations, data manger and statisticians to ensure quality
assurance and aid in processing of study data.
·Supervise, train and support study related personnel, creating and
monitoring personnel effort and assignments.
·Manage the non-personnel and petty cash financial aspects of the study,
including subject payments and purchase of materials needed to conduct
the study.
·Ensure compliance with all regulatory and administrative requirements
imposed by funders and IRBs.
·Oversee the monthly/quarterly/annual project deliverables as required.
·Communicate issues and solutions to the Principal Investigator in a
timely manner.
·Revise and maintain research operating procedures throughout the course
of the study.
·Preparation for presentations, drafts for publications, and reference
building with opportunities for publications under the supervision of
the PI.
·Other duties include some administrative support for the Principal
Investigator including coordinating professional meetings or events,
drafting/proofing documents, composing correspondence with other
investigators and collaborators, assistance with grant and manuscript
writing, etc.
*EDUCATION: *Masters degree or doctorate with at least 3-5 years of
relevant experience in research, conducting and/or coordinating research
studies.
TRAINING
*& EXPERIENCE:*Desired requirements include:
·Ability to work independently with appropriate guidance and support
from the Principal Investigator.
·Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to assume an
appropriate leadership role while acknowledging and encouraging the
interest and input of the collaborating parties.
·Current knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines including:
protection of human subjects, definitions and reporting requirements for
adverse events, elements of informed consent, Federal Codes, Regulations
and Guidelines relevant to the performance and conduct of clinical research.
·Excellent computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and SPSS and Adobe Acrobat
·Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills.
·Excellent interpersonal and creative problem solving skills.
·Willingness and ability to travel may be required.
·The following are also essential to this position: be able to take
initiative, problem-solve, multi-task under a high-paced environment,
conduct structured interviews regarding psychosocial and psychosexual
topics with adults and adolescents, recruitment and tracking of
participants.
·Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus, but not critical.**
SPECIAL
*REQUIREMENTS:*This position involves some contact youth < 18 years; the
successful candidate will be screened through the New York State Central
Child Abuse Register prior to assuming any duties that will involve
contact with children.
