1.)  American University - School of International Service

The School of International Service at American University invites
applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor
to begin Fall (August) 2014. The position is for a scholar-teacher whose
research relies on quantitative research methods.  Responsibilities include
teaching and research supervision at the undergraduate and graduate levels,
mentoring students, university service, and participating in SIS and
University governance. Qualifications: Ph.D. or highest equivalent degree in
a relevant discipline and record of teaching and research excellence. We
seek highly productive scholar-teachers whose work is theoretically
grounded, empirically tested, and policy relevant. The ideal candidate will
share the School's commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and
service. The School of International Service is ranked by its peers as a top
ten international relations program at the undergraduate and graduate
levels, and consists of more than 100 full-time faculty working across
multiple disciplines. We seek candidates whose research relies on
quantitative methods and who have the willingness and capacity to teach
those methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The substantive area
of focus is open, and we particularly welcome candidates whose research

2.)  University of California, Berkeley - Department of Geography

The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a faculty
position (tenure-track) related to Economic Disparities, with a start date
of July 1, 2014.  A Ph.D. or equivalent is required by the start date.  We
are especially interested in scholars who investigate economic disparities,
with a focus on spatial dimensions of economic disparities, geographies of
inequity, African American communities or the African diaspora, or other
underrepresented minority communities, either domestically or
internationally. The successful candidate will have a program of research
that bears on pressing social problems, including but not limited to the
urban landscape, health disparities, labor markets, inequality, housing
markets, immigration, global labor flows, gendering and marginality, or
environmental inequities. The successful candidate will participate in the
university's multidisciplinary and collaborative initiative to understand
and alleviate economic disparities, the Haas Institute for a Fair and
Inclusive Society.  We are especially interested in scholars who would join
the Department of Geography and/or the Department of African American
Studies, depending on interest and expertise. The successful candidate will

3.)  University of Southern California - Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology in the Dana and David Dornsife College of
Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California (Los
Angeles, CA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor
position in Quantitative Social Demography, with an anticipated start date
of Fall 2014. We seek applicants who are trained in quantitative methods and

4.)  University of Maryland, College Park - Department of Family Science

The Department of Family Science, School of Public Health, University of
Maryland, College Park seeks to fill three full-time tenure-track
Assistant/Associate Professor positions in Maternal and Child Health

5.)  University of Kentucky - Department of Sociology

The University of Kentucky Department of Sociology invites applications for
a tenure-track, assistant professor faculty position to begin August 15,
2014. The department is seeking a scholar with expertise in medical
sociology or the sociology of health and illness. The successful candidate
will participate in an innovative, interdisciplinary program in Population
Health and will contribute to sociology instruction for pre-med students.
This individual will teach 2/2 at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching add to

6.)  University of Maryland, Baltimore County - Department of Sociology and
Anthropology

The UMBC Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a
tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2014. The
Department's areas of focus are health & aging; diversity, culture,
inequality, & social change; and, applied social science research.  Primary
research and teaching interests for the position are broadly in medical
sociology and health & aging; however, preference will be given to
candidates also contributing to our strengths in inequality, research
methods, and/or statistics.  Candidates are expected to have an active
program of research.  Our Department has 15 full time tenured/tenure-track
faculty members with over 600 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate students.
The Department consists of three undergraduate major programs (Sociology,
Anthropology, and Health Administration and Policy). a Master's Degree in
Applied Sociology, and a Departmental Center for Aging Studies managing over
$7 million in externally funded grants. Faculty actively participate and are
affiliated with three interdisciplinary doctoral programs in Gerontology,
Public Policy, and Language, Literacy, & Culture. Faculty also have the

7.)  Franklin and Marshall College - Department of Sociology and Public
Health Program

The Department of Sociology and the Public Health Program at Franklin and
Marshall College invite applications for a tenure-track position beginning
Fall 2014. The core specialty area is medical sociology. The successful
applicant must be able to teach sociological research methods and
introduction to public health. The position will have teaching and
administrative duties in the Public Health program, though the appointment
will be in Sociology. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a
doctorate in Sociology. We are particularly interested in candidates with a
research specialization in one or more developing countries. Teaching load
is 5 courses per year, and may involve teaching in the College's General
