The University of the Pacific Department of Sociology invites applications for a
two-year, full-time, visiting assistant professor specializing in inequalities. A
PhD is required by time of appointment. Salary is $45,000 with the option of
additional salary for summer teaching. Pacific offers excellent benefits and pays
for attendance at one conference per year.

The successful candidate join the 4-person department of sociology, teaching 5
courses per year plus undergraduate advising. Teaching will include classes in
social inequalities, prejudice & racism, sex & gender, and general sociology
courses. The successful candidate will also teach in the university’s Pacific
Seminar sequence and general education program. Qualified candidates should have a
demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience teaching diverse populations.
Participation in service is required only at the department level.
