*The Position:*****

The **********David**** ****Rothenberg****** ****Center******** for Public
Policy (DRCPP) focuses on Fortune’s policy development, advocacy, technical
assistance, training, and community education efforts. DRCPP integrates
Fortune’s internal expertise – the life experience of our formerly
incarcerated staff and clients and our first-hand experience as a direct
service provider – with research and evaluation to advocate for a fairer
criminal justice system; promote effective program models and needed
supports for people with criminal justice histories; and change the
counterproductive laws and policies that create unfair barriers to the
successful reentry of people with criminal justice histories into our
communities. ********

Our HIV Care Services Project is an innovative training initiative designed
to improve health care outcomes for HIV+/high risk criminal justice
involved individuals by providing cultural competency and referral
information to health care providers who serve them. The intervention is
based on the “academic detailing” model, whereby trainers conduct
one-on-one meetings with health care providers on evidence-based practice
to improve health care outcomes. These trainings will be augmented by other
communications and outreach strategies with providers.********

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES********

  Conduct literature reviews of current cultural competency interventions
aimed at health care providers, specifically in regard to minority and/or
criminal justice involved populations, and other studies on the subject, in
order to establish best practices as well as to assess gaps in current
service provision.

**Meet with and survey HIV+/high-risk Fortune clients to assess access to
health care services and satisfaction therein. ********

**Meet with and survey health care provides to assess perceptions about
serving HIV+/high risk patients and identify gaps in their knowledge and
needed resources.********

**Identify specific gaps in health care provider cultural competency to be
targeted for change and define key messages.  Develop curriculum for
training program.  ********

**Outreach to and deliver trainings to providers in target communities.  ***

**Assess curriculum success based on data provided by training recipients
and service population on a periodic basis. ********

**Develop and implement broad range of communications tools (e.g., e-news
bulletins, tool kits, website, social media resources) to support ongoing
learning and improved service delivery among providers.********

**Collect and analyze data for internal and reporting purposes.********

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE********

Assistance********

**&#61623           **SUPERVISES: Does not supervise paid staff, but may
supervise interns or volunteers********

QUALIFICATIONS********

** ******

**&#61623                 **Master’s degree, preferably in public health,
human services, criminal justice, law, sociology or related field. (Can be
substituted for substantial work history).****

**&#61623                 **Strong background in curricula
development/training, communications, data management, and community
organizing.    ****

**&#61623                 **A minimum of two years relevant work
experience, preferably in a nonprofit social service or community based
setting.****

**&#61623                 **Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and NYC health care
delivery system is highly valued.****

**&#61623                 **Must be detail oriented with superior
analytical skills.  Ability to do "big picture" thinking and solve problems
in a way that is creative and collaborative.****

**&#61623                 **Excellent oral and written communication skills
coupled with exceptional people skills.****

**&#61623                 **Understanding of both qualitative and
quantitative evaluation methods.****

**&#61623                 **Must have a thorough knowledge MS Office,
including Excel.****

**&#61623                 **Experience with quality assurance and/or
quality improvement.****

**&#61623                 **Appreciation of Fortune’s work and comfort in
serving people who have been incarcerated and those who are at risk for
involvement in the criminal justice system.****
