SENIOR RESEARCHER - CENTER FOR WOMEN AND WORK

DESCRIPTION:

   The Center for Women and Work (CWW), part of the School of
Management and Labor Relations, Rutgers University, seeks a senior
researcher (non-tenure track). The Senior Researcher will work with
CWW Director Dana Britton, Program Directors and staff to provide
research support for our programs.  The person who fills this position
will assist in planning, developing, and managing the conduct of
academic and policy relevant research studies that support our
programs, and will ultimately be required to develop their own program
of funded research.  Other responsibilities will include the
supervision of interns and graduate students, fundraising,
participation in outreach activities and other duties as assigned. 

   Founded in 1993, the Center for Women and Work is an innovative
leader in research and programs that promote gender equity, a
high-skill economy, and reconciliation of work and well-being for
all.  As part of our multi-faceted research and policy work, CWW
addresses women´s advancement in the workplace, conducts cutting-edge
research on successful public and workplace policies, provides
technical assistance and programs to educators, industry, and
governments, and engages issues that directly affect the living
standards of New Jersey´s and the nation´s working families.

   We seek a candidate with research interests and expertise in gender
and work, broadly defined.   The position requires rigorous training
in multiple research methodologies - considerable experience with
quantitative research design and analysis is required; some
familiarity with qualitative techniques and evaluation research is
also desirable.   The successful applicant will have experience
working with large labor force and social science datasets, and will
have (or be able to develop) a successful program of externally funded
research.  Strong writing skills and a track record of publication in
academic and policy outlets are also required.

    The position will be in a non-tenure track faculty line, with an
annual appointment renewable contingent on successful performance and
budgetary support.

    Requirements:

   1. Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in sociology, economics,
public policy, psychology, industrial relations, human relations or
other related fields.

   2. Expertise in research design and quantitative and qualitative
data analysis and the application of these techniques in
gender-related research.

   3. Ability to manage complex research projects including the
supervision of research assistants and other staff.  

   4. Experience with dissemination through publication and
presentation of academic and policy-relevant research.

   5. Ability to develop an independent program of funded research in
gender and work.
