The Department of Sociology at Wichita State University invites applications for a
tenure eligible position of Assistant Professor for Fall 2013, contingent on
available funding.



Required qualifications:  Ability to teach classes in Statistics or Quantitative
Research Methods, demonstration of scholarly potential or a record of publication;
evidence of or potential for effective teaching; strong oral and written
communication skills; interests compatible with the department’s commitment to
diversity; and a PhD by time of appointment.



Preferred qualifications: a macro-orientation to complement the interests of
existing faculty and interest or ability to teach classes in one or more of the
following specialty areas: Social Inequality, Race/Ethnicity, Deviance/Juvenile
Delinquency, or Applied/Public Sociology.  Research areas are open, but preference
will be given to those applicants whose research complements the preferred areas
above.



Salary competitive and commensurate with experience.


Wichita State University is a metropolitan university located on a beautiful campus

15,000 students with 60 undergraduate, 42 MA, and 12 PhD programs.  The Department
