The CDC Foundation announces an opportunity for an individual with
high-level experience in qualitative methods, sampling and analysis, as well
as quantitative methods and project management.  Doctoral-level training in
public health, prevention science or related social and behavioral science
methods is preferred.  Individuals with masters-level training in public
health, prevention science or social and behavioral science and extensive
field experience may also be considered.  The opportunity is full-time, and
the Fellow will be a CDC Foundation contracted individual.

 

The Fellow will support a three-year project (currently at the end of Year
1) focused on the adaptation of evidence-based interventions in violence
prevention.  In particular, the project team will examine how developers,
implementers and communities adapt evidence-based interventions and how
adaptation influences implementation.  Qualitative and quantitative methods
will be used to address study aims.  The project is funded by a grant from
the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through the CDC Foundation.  

 

The Fellow will be expected to be self-directed, able to lead components of
the project and able to expertly facilitate collaboration and cooperation
among team members, partners and contractors, as s/he works alongside team
members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center
for Injury Prevention and Control, Division of Violence Prevention. 

 

Fellow responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

*         Systematic review of adaptation literature conducting literature
review and synthesis

*         Developing study design and protocols

*         Conducting interviews and implementing other qualitative
techniques

*         Developing survey instruments, administering surveys and
conducting analyses 

*         Project management

*         Fostering positive and productive teamwork and collaborations with
partners 

*         Developing reports and papers   

The ideal Fellow will have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills,
excellent writing skills, extensive experience conducting qualitative
studies, as well as experience implementing evidence-based interventions.
The Fellow also will need to be expert at fostering collaborative
relationships and bringing together multiple perspectives to advance project
goals.  

 

In addition, the preferred Fellow will have experience with implementing and
adapting evidence-based interventions or practices and some knowledge of
violence prevention strategies.
