Through a generous grant from the Fred H. Bixby Foundation, the Population
Council created the Bixby Fellowship Program to expand opportunities for
recently trained social scientists and biomedical researchers in the health
and population fields.  More than 20 fellows have participated in the
program since 2007, and applications are currently being sought for the 2013
competition.



Bixby fellowships allow citizens of developing countries to work with
experienced mentors in the Council's international network of offices. 
Fellows work on projects in the Council’s three program areas: Reproductive
Health, HIV/AIDS, and Poverty, Gender and Youth.



The deadline for applications is 31 January, 2013.  A description of the
program and details about the application process are available on the
Council's website at: www.popcouncil.org/what/bixby.asp.
