Vacancy for a Post-doc position:Migration and Transnational Families 1.0 fte

Scale level 10: € 41.500,00 p.a. (depending on experience)

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Maastricht 
is looking for a Post-doc candidate to work on a research program on the 
effects of transnational child-raising arrangements (TCRAs) between 
Ghana and The Netherlands. This program is funded by WOTRO/NWO. 
Maastricht University coordinates the study and collaborates with the 
University of Ghana.

The post-doc is responsible for: analysing quantitative data on the 
impact of TCRAs on Ghanaian migrant parents in the Netherlands; 
collaborating with a cross-country comparative project (TCRAf-Eu) to 
investigate the differences between the effects found amongst different 
African groups in The Netherlands and Europe; helping with the 
coordination of the TCRA project- including the organization of 
conferences and workshops; and acting as daily supervisor of 2 PhD 
candidates on the TCRA and TCRAf-Eu projects. The TCRA project uses 
mixed methods therefore the post-doc is required to have an affinity 
with both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The post doc 
will also contribute to the teaching program within the faculty on 
Globalization and Development both at the BA and MA levels. The position 
entails 0.2 fte of teaching.

The required qualifications include a doctorate in a social science 
discipline (anthropology, sociology, geography, international 
development studies, etc) with a focus on migration issues, excellent 
skills in _quantitative methods_ and familiarity with qualitative 
methods, demonstrated research experience and international, 
peer-reviewed publications in the field of migration.
