Research Position

Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment

University of California San Francisco

Location Oakland, CA

 

The Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment is located in the
Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences  We conduct
epidemiologic and translational research on leading questions in
environmental reproductive health, with an emphasis on identifying sources
of exposure to environmental contaminants, assessing exposures to
environmental contaminants, and evaluating the relationship between
environmental contaminant exposure and adverse maternal and infant health
outcomes. Our studies may be multi-center or single center projects
supported by the NIH and other sources.  

 

We are currently seeking a General Research Analyst.  The candidate will be
responsible for conducting research and statistical analysis for the Program
in Reproductive Health and the Environment.   We currently have several
ongoing studies in the Women's Options Clinic and the Prenatal Clinic at the
San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) evaluating chemical exposures among
the prenatal and fetal exposures.  The Women's Options Clinic performs 1st
and 2nd trimester pregnancy terminations.

 

The candidate will participate and assist managing in all phases of
research, including: 

*         Conduct data analyses and interpret results, and write and/or
co-author articles for publication in the scientific journals and for
presentation and conferences and symposia.

*         Assist in the development and writing of grant proposals to the
NIH, foundations, and other funding sources. 

*         Development of research tools, including data forms and study
manuals, exposure assessment questionnaires and tools, study databases and
other data collection tools, as necessary. 

*         Assist in planning and implementation of study protocols,
including recruitment and enrollment of subjects, performance of study
procedures and timely follow up of participants, communication with other
collaborators, collection and maintenance of data and study records; 

*         Protocol development, writing applications for human subjects
approval (CHR)  and status reports,

*         Responsible for the regulation, quality control, and ethical
conduct of the research performed, 

*         Work independently and use judgment and discretion, initiative and
resourcefulness in making decisions.  Troubleshoot by identifying and
solving complex research related problems.

*         May participate in communication activities for PRHE, including
development of materials for nonscientific audiences.

 

Candidate will work closely with the principal investigator; and other
research staff at PRHE and will be responsible for maintaining excellent
levels of communication with all involved personnel. 

 

Position is located in the Oakland office of PRHE with some onsite work at
San Francisco General Hospital.

 

The position is part to 100% percent time.

 

Qualifications

Master's or PHD degree with a major in a related field (i.e. environmental
health, epidemiology, biostatistics or statistics) and experience in
environmental health research.  At least 3 years of professional research,
and analytical experience, including at least one year of pertinent
supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Must have expertise in statistical software (such as SAS),
database software and PC and MS Office applications.  

 

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple
deadlines; demonstrated record of reliability and excellent attendance;
experience initiating and implementing studies and tracking and managing
data; experience in preparing peer-reviewed publications; excellent problem
solving ability and attention to detail; excellent organizational and
written and verbal communication skills.
