Reporting to the Director of the QMSS program, the Program Manager will be primarily
responsible for the expansion and growth of the QMSS Master's Program in accordance
with the program's vision and goals. Program Manager will convene department
discussions on QMSS growth potential; prepare reports on enrollment, revenue and
expenses; and draft year-by-year plans for sustainable growth.

Based on these plans, the Program Manager will anticipate QMSS's yearly need for
faculty members and develop and recruit faculty positions accordingly. The Program
Manager will design and implement marketing strategies to increase the number of
QMSS applicants.

She/he will keep abreast of competitor programs and offerings, striving at all times
to establish QMSS as the premier program of its kind. She will also help anticipate
trends in similar MA programs, so that QMSS is a leading program rather than a
reactive one. Such anticipation will also include the assistance with and
exploration of funding opportunities to assist in program growth and innovation.

The Program Manager will ensure that QMSS students receive proper guidance from
faculty. She will act as a liaison with advising faculty. Additionally, the Program
Manager will ensure that QMSS students have access to and receive adequate
administrative support during their time in the program.

She will seek out and publicize key research opportunities for students. She will
establish new relationships with external institutes, employers, and businesses to
ensure that QMSS students have access to a wide variety of hands-on research
opportunities. She will work to build an alumni network to connect students with
internship and job opportunities.

Using QMSS as a successful model, the Program Manager will advise other departments
on how to create and develop other MA programs as needed. Whenever possible, the
Program Manager will facilitate cooperation among university masters' programs. This
cooperation demands the maintenance of a close working relationship with the Dean's
Office for MA programs both within the GSAS as well as other Schools here at
Columbia University. Additionally, it will include the development and maintenance
of dual degree programs with other MA programs throughout the University.

The Program Manager will supervise one Program Coordinator, who is responsible for
QMSS's administrative tasks, which include maintaining student data, progress
reports, applications, course evaluations, QMSS web-site, and other day-to-day
business.

and written skills. Strong inter-personal skills. Ability to multi-task. Required to
work some evenings and weekends, if needed.

Additional Preferred Qualifications: Masters' degree in related field. Experience
working in academic environment preferred. Experience managing budgets strongly
