McGill University: Sociology. Applications are invited for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position, commencing August 1st, 2011. (While the
appointment is expected to be at the rank of Assistant Professor,
appointment at the rank of Associate may be possible under exceptional
circumstances.)

We are looking to expand our strength in the area of Population Dynamics.
Within this substantive area, all research foci are of interest. But
research with a focus on migration or aging is particularly welcome.

This position is part of an initiative in the Faculty of Arts to become a
major centre for research and teaching on population dynamics. The ideal
candidate will exhibit interest in and a capacity for interdisciplinary work
with related disciplines such as economics and epidemiology. Ability to
teach quantitative methods (including demographic methods) is expected. For
more information about our Department, visit our website at
<http://www.mcgill.ca/sociology> www.mcgill.ca/sociology.

Interested persons should write to: Chair, Recruitment Committee,
Department of Sociology, McGill University, Stephen Leacock Building, Room
713, 855 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, H3A 2T7,
enclosing a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and a sample of work. Letters
from three referees should be submitted directly to the department on behalf
of the candidate.

To be assured of full consideration, all application materials should be
received by October 25, 2010 and review of applications will continue until
the position is filled.

In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, all qualified
candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent
residents will be given priority. McGill University is committed to equity
in employment and diversity. It welcomes applications from indigenous
peoples, visible minorities, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities,
women, persons of minority sexual orientations and gender identities and
others who may contribute to further diversification. The language of
instruction at McGill is English; however a working knowledge of French is
an asset.
