Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James
Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track position in sociology at
the rank of assistant professor to begin August 2010. Specialty areas are open. In
addition to teaching introductory and elective courses in one's specialization, this
appointment involves teaching in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies (IDLS). The IDLS
program provides content-area education for preK-8 teachers. IDLS responsibilities
include advising and teaching a capstone course for future teachers. The successful
candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teacher education and to undergraduate
teaching and scholarship in sociology. Review of applications begins January 19 and
will continue until the position is filled. Candidates should send a letter of
application, vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness, representative publications
