Lecturer in Demography
Sociology Department
- Quarterly Part-Time Lecturer

Purpose:
The Department of Sociology at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic 
institution, seeks applicants for a quarterly part-time lecturer in Sociology 
for the spring 2010 quarter. The department will need to staff one 
upper-division course in Demography: Population and Resources.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or ABD in Sociology, Demography, or related field. Demonstrated 
excellence in teaching at the college level.
Rank and Salary
Lecturer, Quarterly Part Time; $5,500 per course.
Starting Date
March 29, 2010

Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
Teaching one course during spring quarter; other courses may be assigned in 
place of one or more of these courses should department needs match expertise 
of the QPT lecturer hired.
Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with assigned courses, including
Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with 
students;
Assigning and evaluating written work that aligns with course learning 
outcomes;
Holding weekly office hours on campus;
Submitting student grades to the Registrar by the designated deadline;
Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the 
Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the Department.
