Dear Dr. Lee:

         Michigan State University, through the College of Social
Science, seeks applicants for a _tenure-track appointment at the
assistant or associate professor level, in the Department of Family and
Child Ecology, focused on_ _Aging and Human Development in the family
context_. Responsibilities for the position include: 1) Developing a
research program, including the securing extramural funding, which
integrates aging, human development, and the family with applied
dimensions of aging to align closely with the mission of MAES and MSUE
to promote healthy lifestyles across the lifespan; 2) Participating in
the MSU Human Development Initiative emphasizing life course development
from a multidisciplinary, multi-contextual perspective; 3) Developing
research collaborations with other units such as Food Science and Human
Nutrition and the planned center for aging (involving the MSU Colleges
of Medicine and Social Science); and 4) Teaching undergraduate and
graduate adult development courses in the FCE department.  The
successful applicant will be committed to making a positive impact on
families and communities through research and education on healthy
aging. A Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology,
Sociology or related field, with an emphasis in gerontology, with
demonstrated skills in teaching and in the acquisition of funding
through research grants. _The Department of Family and Child Ecology_
focuses on the lifespan development in the family, including *adult
development and aging, with faculty conducting ongoing research in such
areas as elder abuse in families and nursing homes and family-based
caregiving.* _Salary_ for this 9 month position is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.  _Applications and nominations_ will be
