Postdoctoral Fellowship

Group Health Research Institute

The Group Health Research Institute (GHRI, www.grouphealthresearch.org<http://www.grouphealthresearch.org/>) is seeking a doctorally trained (PhD or MD/MPH) candidate for a 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship.  GHRI is a multidisciplinary research organization with successful programs in a wide range of clinical, epidemiologic, and health services research areas.  Applications are sought from candidates working in one or more of the following areas:
o        Behavioral medicine (especially, health behavior change, smoking cessation, physical activity, treatment adherence, substance abuse, and health risk communications)
o        Mental health
o        Pharmacoepidemiology and therapeutics (especially in the areas of psychoactive medications, cancer, cardiovascular disease, or aging)

About GHRI:  GHRI is a non-proprietary, public-interest research organization. Our mission is to improve health and healthcare, which we do both through our public-domain research and through our affiliation with Group Health (www.ghc.org<http://www.ghc.org/>), a nonprofit cooperative health plan in the Pacific Northwest.  Group Health is strongly committed to evidence-based health care and the translation of research into practice.  GHRI is also a leader in the HMO Research Network, the Cancer Research Network, and the Cardiovascular Disease Research Network.

The GHRI faculty includes 33 MD and PhD investigators, 12 research associates, and 10 master's level biostatisticians.  Our research is primarily funded through federal grants.  Total 2009 grant revenue exceeded $36 million.

GHRI is an active member of a vibrant regional research community that includes the University of Washington, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Seattle Veterans' Affairs Medical Center.

About the Fellowship:  Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong interest in active collaboration in public domain interdisciplinary research, and strong letters of recommendation.  They must also hold a relevant doctoral degree and have expertise and interests in at least one of the areas noted above.  Persons working in other fields will not be considered for this fellowship, but are welcome to explore other possible positions by searching at www.ghc.org/careers<http://www.ghc.org/careers>. Finally, applicants should have training in one or more of the following areas: clinical psychology, health psychology, behavioral science, epidemiology, health services, biostatistics, or pharmaceutical outcomes research.
