position within Global Attitudes team, which conducts worldwide public opinion
surveys encompassing a broad array of subjects, from people’s assessments of
their own lives to their views about the current state of the world and
important issues of the day.  Its major research topics include global
attitudes toward the U.S. and American foreign policy, views of China, global
economic attitudes, terrorism, and democracy. The Global Attitudes team relies
on area probability and random digit dial sample designs to achieve nationally
representative surveys in 40 or more countries each year. The Global Attitudes
team encourages experiments in sampling methods, survey modes, and survey
administration, as well as the design and use of paradata for quality control.</span></p>

closely with the Director of Global Attitudes Research and the Associate
Director, Research in designing and executing the Pew Research Center’s
international research agenda. The methodologist advises on survey design,
sampling plans, weighting and analytic strategies. The methodologist consults
with the Pew Research Center’s Director of Survey Research to ensure that all
international projects utilize the latest methods and are compliant with the
Pew Research Center’s standards for transparency, rigor and accuracy. The
methodologist helps to advance the Pew Research Center’s methodological
research, through the fielding of experiments, analysis of results and write-up
of findings. The methodologist is also responsible for assisting and training
staff in statistical analysis and monitoring of sample performance and
fieldwork.</span></p>

knowledge and skill in survey methodology – including various sampling frames,
data collection modes and questionnaire design – as well as extensive
background in statistics and statistical analysis. In applying this knowledge
and skill, the methodologist must apply analytic rigor, creativity, and a
tireless attention to detail and the highest standards of quality control. The
position also entails editorial judgment when interpreting and describing data
collection methods, survey findings and the results of methodological
experiments to diverse audiences. The Pew Research Center’s reputation for
straightforward explanation and assiduous impartiality is grounded in an
editorial style and institutional voice that must be applied consistently by all
researchers and writers at the Pew Research Center.  The position reports
to the Director, Global Attitudes Research and is supervised by the Associate
