Department of Sociology is seeking to appoint one suitably qualified
individual as a Research Associate to work with Professor Lawrence King
on a European Research Council funded
research project examining the relationship between mass privatization
and mortality in post-communist Eastern Europe. The research associate
will be expected to assist with the preparation and analysis of data
sets and the preparation of manuscripts for scholarly
publication. The post will start on the 1</span><sup><span style="font-size:7pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:rgb(23,23,23)">st</span></sup><span style="font-size:9pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:rgb(23,23,23)"> of April 2015 and will run until
31</span><sup><span style="font-size:7pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:rgb(23,23,23)">st</span></sup><span style="font-size:9pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:rgb(23,23,23)"> of March 2017.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12pt;line-height:13.5pt;background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">
<span style="font-size:9pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:rgb(23,23,23)">Applications
are invited from individuals who have expertise and research experience
in analysing complex demographic surveys and demographic modelling of
mortality outcomes. Applicants
must have, or be working towards, a PhD in demography, epidemiology,
statistics, sociology or a related discipline at the time of
appointment. We are seeking applicants with outstanding research
potential. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and
communication skills. Applicants must have a record of high quality
quantitative research. We are seeking applicants who have experience
working on and preparing large firm as well as population survey
datasets. Excellent knowledge of STATA, SAS or R is a
requirement.</span></p>
