INSECURITY IN <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">CANADA</st1:place></st1:country-region></span></b><br>

Eyes High is the <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Calgary</st1:PlaceName>'s new strategic direction, a bold <br>
and ambitious vision to become one of <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Canada</st1:place></st1:country-region>'s top five research <br>
universities by 2016. To this end, 60 researchers on campus have been <br>
invited to nominate a new scholar from outside the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Calgary</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>
<br>
who will contribute to increase the University's research capacity. <br>
These candidates are to be of the highest calibre with a track record <br>
that would be competitive for national and international fellowships. <br>
They should be prepared to relocate to <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Calgary</st1:place></st1:City>
before the end of 2013. <br>
In addition to working with their supervisor, they will participate in <br>
an enhanced professional development program aimed at ensuring long-term <br>
career success. The $50,000 annual salary is competitive and is <br>
augmented by additional benefits and research supports. Nominations for <br>
the two year fellowship must be finalized by April 30, 2013 so <br>
applications will be considered immediately until the position is filled.<br>

The Fellow's <br>
research will specifically contribute to an interpretive policy analysis <br>
that addresses the question, "How is household food insecurity defined <br>
and socially constructed as a policy problem in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region
w:st="on">Canada</st1:country-region></st1:place>?" Understanding <br>
how food insecurity is framed as a policy issue is critical to <br>
understanding why existing responses to this problem (e.g., food banks, <br>
children's feeding programs) have taken the forms they have and how <br>
other sorts of policy interventions to address food insecurity could be <br>
taken up. The ideal candidate will be within three years of doctoral <br>
completion, have an excellent publication track record, a background in <br>
public policy (broadly defined), and possess a critical perspective on <br>
household food insecurity.<br>

the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) Chair in Gender and <br>
Health in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType
