OPEN-RANK TENURE TRACK POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Center for Public Policy Research
Universidad Mayor, Santiago, Chile
March 2018

The new Center for Public Policy Research (CPPR) at Universidad Mayor is
seeking candidates for four open-rank full-time tenure track positions.
Screening of applications will begin immediately and will remain open until
all four positions are filled.

The goals of the CPPR are to conduct high-quality, interdisciplinary, and
collaborative policy-relevant research, as well as to train new researchers
in a context of global change. Demographic, epidemiological, technological,
and environmental changes are taking place around the globe, raising new
questions and challenges for public policies in a number of areas across
the life course, including redesigning work and retirement, preventing and
treating chronic diseases, supporting families and caregivers, addressing
immigration and multiculturalism, promoting sustainable urban environments,
among many others. The CPPR will use mixed methods and embrace the new role
that policy-relevant research must adopt in an era of big “cells to
society” data.

We seek candidates with a strong publication record that is appropriate to
their rank, proven capacities to establish successful research
collaborations, the ability to offer graduate courses and direct doctoral
dissertations, and fluent in English. Above the rank of Assistant
Professor, a record of funded research is also desirable. Applicants must
have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.

We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds,
including population, behavioral, and statistical sciences (sociology,
economics, demography, gerontology, geography, epidemiology, sociomedical
sciences, global health, health policy and management, psychology,
biostatistics, statistical engineering, information statistics, applied
statistics, among others). Priority will be given to candidates with the
ability to conduct research using advanced statistics and to work
collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting.

The substantive areas of research and teaching are open. The average
teaching load ranges from 4 to 8 hours per week, depending on rank.

The official instruction language is Spanish, although particular class
modules and graduate classes can be taught in English. Candidates with
basic knowledge of Spanish are welcomed, but need to achieve proficiency
after an initial period of induction. Salaries are competitive and
standardized depending on rank.

Applicants should submit by email: (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) letter of
application, and (3) one or two samples of written work. Please also
arrange for three references to email letters separately. All application
materials should be emailed at both politicaspublicasumayor at gmail.com and
cipp at umayor.cl.
