An interdisciplinary post-doctoral position in health policy is available
at Stanford University, with an anticipated start date as early as July
2017. The position will be supervised by Eran Bendavid and Marshall Burke.
The position will focus on quantitative studies of the environmental,
economic, and political determinants of child health in low- and
middle-income countries. The responsibilities and expectations include the
following: (i) identifying and analyzing health outcomes data in
multi-country nationally representative survey microdata; (ii) merging
these data with geospatially explicit information on environment, conflict
and economic outcomes (iii) developing and applying geostatistical and
econometric models to these data; (iv) authorship of manuscripts to be
submitted to peer reviewed publications; (v) presenting and communicating
the findings to academic and other interested audiences. Appropriate
candidates should have completed a PhD by July 2017 related to economics,
political science, health policy, or epidemiology/biostats with an emphasis
on causal inference, and have complete fluency in Stata or R; expertise in
global health, conflict, and geospatial data is preferred. Salary and
benefits, including conference travel and equipment funds, are highly
competitive and in excess of the NIH salary scale adjusted for cost of
living. The position is designed for one year, but could be extended based
on performance. Post-doctoral scholars will receive dedicated mentorship,
and will have the opportunity to participate in seminar series, lectures
and career development programs. Interested candidates should send a CV
