expand the labor focus of their curricula; and other activities to link UC
Berkeley’s and other Northern UC’s student community with labor and
community partners.

The primary appointment at the Labor Center will be in the Academic
Coordinator I title. Appointments within this series are academic
appointments at UC Berkeley, implying independent program development in
the service of the Labor Center. The appointee to will oversee projects of
increasing scope and complexity and will participate in efforts to secure
grants.

The position also requires developing and establishing labor studies
courses in the Goldman School of Public Policy, ultimately teaching three
courses per academic year at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. For
the teaching responsibilities, the appointee will hold a concurrent
Lecturer appointment at GSPP.

Minimum Qualification required at time of application:
• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in relevant field such as public policy,
economics, geography, sociology, labor studies, etc.
• Experience in teaching at UC Berkeley or similar institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated understanding of California and/or national issues related
to labor, inequality, and social justice.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching classes that include a service
learning component and/or in running internship programs.
• Demonstrated relationships with labor and community partners and/or
policy makers in California and experience engaging these stakeholders.
• Ability to develop and oversee research projects with students and
stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to interact with a diverse population and engage UC Berkeley’s
diverse student body.
• Experience soliciting and managing grants or extramural funds.

Salary range for the Academic Coordinator I appointment is $59,028 to
$94,236, commensurate with experience. The salary for the concurrent
Lecturer appointments will be determined by the Goldman School of Public
Policy and the AFT contract. Benefits are included. This full-time position
is anticipated to comprise 50% effort in the Academic Coordinator I title
and 50% effort in the Lecturer title. The position is fully funded for two
years, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and
availability of funding. To apply, please go to: https://aprecruit.
