*The School of Medicine at Stanford is hiring an Assistant Director for
Biosciences Diversity Programs. *The individual will direct the Stanford
Biosciences ADVANCE Institute and work to advance equity, diversity and
inclusion across the biosciences. Reporting to the Associate Dean for
Graduate Education, the Assistant Director of Biosciences Diversity
Programs (Student Services Officer 2) will provide support for academic
programs and management of diversity initiatives within the Office of
Graduate Education. The position will serve as the primary lead for the
Biosciences ADVANCE Summer and Academic Year Institutes—comprehensive
programs aimed at promoting the professional, academic, and personal
development of underrepresented, disadvantage, and other vulnerable student
populations in the biosciences. This position will be an integral part of a
small team committed to developing and enhancing graduate programs while
serving as the primary advisor to the Biomedical Association for the
Interests of Minority Students and other student organizations. In
collaboration with the faculty and staff members across Graduate Education,
the Assistant Director will also coordinate new initiatives across graduate
programs.


DUTIES: Manage all aspects of ADVANCE Summer Institute; Administer a key
program in student services, evaluate and recommend decisions on program
eligibility. Review decisions recommended by other staff; Collaborate with
others to help resolve program issues and concerns, interpret policies, and
mediate complex and sensitive issues; Summarize data from multiple sources,
prepare management reports and presentations; Identify and evaluate data
needs, manage the implementation and development of technology; Develop and
Implement plans for outreach efforts, develop and maintain external
community and university liaison represent department and university at
meetings and events; Provide advice to students on a range of issues,
including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program
policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., in order
to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in a relevant field;

Previous experience in program coordination, student services or related
field

science background/writing experience; Bachelor's degree and three years of
relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

The Director of Research and Evaluation (DRE) has both internal and
external facing responsibilities, ranging from research team leadership to
strategic partnerships and outreach to thought leadership in K-12
education. The DRE will help to increase the Institute's impact and
visibility through an integrated approach to research, policy and practice.
This position requires the DRE to engage both individually and collectively
with research associates in research design and execution, publish in
peer-reviewed and state-of-the-field publications, attend and present at
conferences, and cultivate relationships with peer research institutions.
The DRE will work closely with other Institute team members to build a
research and practice agenda, attract and secure research funding, and
cross market the Institute's shared services.


The DRE serves as a member of the Institute's Leadership Team, and will
help to determine the strategic directions of the Institute. Additionally,
the DRE works in coordination with the Assistant Director of Administration
to oversee recruitment and hiring of Research employees, performance
evaluations, professional development, and recognition efforts. This
position reports directly to the Executive Director of the Institute.
Exercises supervision over Research Associates, Post-Doctoral Scholars and
other personnel, as assigned.
