University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Position:
The Department of Child and Family Studies (CFS) at The University of
Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for an open rank
(assistant/associate/full), tenure-track faculty position to begin in
August, 2017. Preference will be given to candidates whose research centers
on family dynamics and/or processes. The department supports an ecological
and interdisciplinary perspective on children and families. We are seeking
a candidate whose on-going research and teaching will strengthen the CFS
department’s mission of development in context and children and families at
risk. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of and continue to
pursue an active research agenda, including a strong commitment to seeking
external funding from competitive federal and private agencies, in addition
to participating in the Department's undergraduate and graduate advising
and teaching programs. The candidate will also be expected to collegially
engage in service activities in support of the department, college,
university, and/or local/global communities. Evidence of effective
university-level teaching, experience working in an interdisciplinary
environment, and the ability to teach courses on qualitative research
methods and family stress are desirable. Preferable also are candidates
whose teaching interests support courses required for our NCFR Certified
Family Life Educator approved program provisional certificate. Candidates
must have an earned doctoral degree by time of appointment in Family
Studies, Human Development, or a closely related field. Candidates must be
able to demonstrate their ability to perform at the rank being considered.

who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and
intercultural goals of the University. Women and minorities are encouraged
to apply. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
