The Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs
invites applications for the endowed Lerner Professorship of Public Health
Policy.

The Lerner Professor will be an individual with a record of excellence in
academic scholarship with an emphasis on public health and health policy,
including, but not limited to, topical areas such as behavioral health,
nutrition, public health promotion, the evaluation of large-scale health
policies targeting vulnerable populations, and community-based public
health. The holder will provide leadership in research, teaching and the
professional development of undergraduate and graduate students. The
successful candidate will complement the broader Maxwell mission of
interdisciplinary research and collaboration.

The Lerner Professor will also play a pivotal role in the guidance and

Public Health Promotion. The Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion

development of a needs assessment for the health department and hospitals
in Onondaga County. See http://lernercenter.syr.edu for more details.

The Lerner Professor will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
topics related to public health and/or health policy. Some of this
coursework may have a practical component that provides students with
hands-on experience in putting public health promotion into practice around
the Syracuse community, in conjunction with the mission of the Lerner
Center.

*Job Specific Qualifications: * Candidates must have an earned doctorate
with a public health and/or health policy focus in a social science or
