*1. Research Associate*

Overview: The Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University
seeks to hire a research associate to contribute to the Institute’s
research agenda. The Institute creates knowledge and seeks to implement
change that promotes gender equality. Since its founding in 1974, the
Institute has offered many programs to further gender equality. We set a
broad research agenda, translate gender research, convene interdisciplinary
networks of scholars and educate students. Currently we are focused on
“reinvigorating the stalled gender revolution.” Institute research projects
evolve over time, but recent projects include analysis of gender and
performance reviews, girls and women’s leadership and dual-career academic
couples.



Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in the social sciences is required



Desired Qualifications:

A broadly trained gender scholar who also has a background in or
familiarity with one of the following areas – race/ethnicity, inequality,
social movements, organizational behavior or work and family

The ability to design, implement and manage research projects and have a
background in both quantitative and qualitative research methods

Openness to a variety of projects, flexible and comfortable working in a
dynamic environment

Ability to work on research teams (with graduate and undergraduate
students, research associates, or faculty members and fellows)

A strong and efficient writer with experience publishing and co-authoring
in scholarly outlets

The ability and orientation to translate research to broad non-academic
audiences

Candidates should consider applying even if their credentials do not match
every desired qualification.



This is a one year fixed term position after which time there may be an
opportunity to extend the position. Teaching is not part of the position.
Compensation will be based on experience and university guidelines.

*2. Research Associate, Seeds of Change Initiative*

Overview:

The Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University seeks to
hire a Research Associate to work on a new initiative that contributes to
the Institute’s research and programmatic agenda of on advancing women’s
leadership and creating inclusive organizations: Seeds of Change.  The
Seeds of Change initiative seeks to provide young women and girls with the
frameworks, knowledge, and skills to successfully navigate the transition
from school to work. We seek a researcher with expertise in gender and
leadership and/or gender and education to work on curriculum design,
program evaluation, research design and implementation, and knowledge
dissemination.



Responsibilities:

The Research Associate will collaborate with Clayman staff and researchers
to:

Design research-based curriculum, including: scripts for animated
educational videos, discussion and skills guides, and tools for
cohort-based learning;

Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data

Prepare research reports for both peer-reviewed journals and popular media
outlets;

Translate research findings into compelling content for diverse lay
audiences;

Develop content expertise by participating in educational opportunities,
reading academic and popular publications, and participating in
professional organizations



Requirements:

Ph.D. in sociology, education or related field;

Background in or familiarity with some or all of the following areas –
race/ethnicity, gender, women’s leadership, childhood/adolescence,
education, program evaluation;

Background in both quantitative and qualitative research methods;

Ability to design, implement, and manage research projects;

Superlative written, visual, and oral communication skills;

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to translate research
findings into compelling content for diverse lay audiences;

Openness to a variety of projects, comfortable working in a dynamic
environment, and flexible;

Passion for Clayman Institute’s mission of advancing women’s leadership and
creating inclusive organizations

Terms and Funding:

This is a one-year fixed term position, renewable for three years, after
which time there may be an opportunity to extend the position.

Compensation will be based on experience and university guidelines.
