Job Description

The USC Program for Environment and Regional Equity (PERE) is seeking a
Project Specialist to provide data analysis and writing support as part of
a team supporting PERE and the Center for the Study of Immigrant
Integration.  PERE works on issues of regional inclusion, environmental
justice, and social movement building. CSII works to remake the narrative
for understanding, and the dialogue for shaping, immigrant integration in
America.  The Project Specialist is expected to immerse him/herself in the
data sets that intersect through these issue areas. The Specialist should
be familiar with Census data, environmental data, and administrative data.
S/he should be able to utilize data management and statistical software as
well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.  The Specialist will
help conduct basic analyses as well as statistical analyses and should be
able to build graphs, maps, and other materials for reports and
presentations.  The Specialist may also engage in qualitative interview
work, coordinate with community-based research partners, and engage in
report and article writing.

The individual will:



·         Assist in the design of study protocols. Recommend methods and
procedures for data acquisition, management and quality control. Recommend
statistical techniques for data analysis. Contribute to the writing of
reports, research papers, articles and other documentation of study
results.



·         Advise on statistical techniques for data collection and
analysis. Assist in the planning of data collection. Develop computer
program for data screening and analysis or recommend and use statistical
software. Generate graphs, charts or tables to present analysis results and
provide interpretation.



·         Contributes to the documentation and update of study procedures.
Coordinates design, revision, approval and production of research
instruments and related materials such as consent forms.



·         Instruct study personnel on proper protocol and quality assurance
procedures and respond to questions regarding data collection, coding
management and analysis methods.



Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelors Degree with 2 years experience. Directly
related education and experience to be able to advise on project procedures
and analysis techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree with 3 years experience, a
commitment to social justice, and bilingual/biliterate.

rigor, relevance, and reach.  We conduct high-quality research relevant to
public policy concerns and that reaches to those directly affected
communities that most need to be engaged in the discussion.



We also run the Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII) which
combines data analysis, scholarship and civic engagement to support
improved economic mobility for, enhanced civic participation by, and
receiving society openness to immigrants.
