Work Unit Description



Functions/Duties of Position



  The Research Associate will function as the project manager for a large
multi-state grant focused on primary care quality improvement strategies to
improve clinical quality measures related to the Million Hearts campaign.
In the state of Oregon, we will recruit 130 small- to medium-sized primary
care practices to participate in measure reporting and quality improvement
while studying models and dosage of practice facilitation, peer learning
and academic detailing interventions.



Healthy Hearts Project Manager will have several responsibilities that
include:



1.     Project implementation and multi-state coordination



Communicate with coordinating team at MacColl Center, travel for training
and planning meetings, and coordinate project materials with clear
deliverables, timelines, and work group assignments.

Manage and implement components of plan, creating tracking documents and
start-up plans, standard operating procedures, and contribute to
standardization across states.

Oversee participation across entire Oregon team, including participating
with leadership.

Present study progress and interim reports; assist with preparing final
reports and manuscripts.

Travel to clinical practices to oversee project and understand study
setting; travel to state and national meetings to represent project.

2.     Practice recruitment



Create and maintain materials to support primary care practice recruitment
with target audiences including coordinated care organizations, independent
physician associations, health systems, primary care organizations, etc.

Act as central hub for recruitment communications, answering questions and
creating memoranda of understanding to describe roles and responsibilities.

Create systems for practice identification and enrollment, optimize
tracking databases to monitor communications, update project team to
achieve recruitment goals and promote recruitment activities.



3.     Practice facilitation training and roll-out

    a.      Contribute materials to create training curriculum for practice
facilitators in Oregon, Washington and Idaho; deliver initial and ongoing
training, with access to content experts as needed; maintain materials and
review existing materials, including AHRQ Practice Facilitation Handbook.

    b. Oversee practice facilitation, ensure protocol fidelity, track visit
reporting, and communicate across team.



4.     Data reporting and review



Prepare, deliver and train study staff on materials; monitor for quality.

Project will collect quantitative data including clinical quality measures,
and qualitative data including field notes and observation logs. Track
collection of quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring that all data are
received and complete, checking data for quality, and reviewing source
documentation and field notes.

Work with team to identify plans for data tracking and management, and
implement the plan in Oregon. Work may include database creation, data
management, preparing data for analysis, and contributing to analysis.



Job Requirements



  Required:



Master’s degree with major courses in field of research (or RN or allied
health professional) plus ACRP or SoCRA certification and 3 years relevant
experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with major courses in field of research
(or RN or allied health professional) plus current ACRP or SoCRA
certification and 3 years of relevant experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with
major courses in field of research (or RN or allied health professional)
and 7 years of relevant experience.



3 years of experience in research, preferably coordinating large
multi-faceted research teams on projects emphasizing quality improvement in
primary care settings.



Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Database creation;
Excellent organizational and communication skills; Ability to work
independently in a multi-task environment.

Preferred:



Experience with mixed methods; experience in primary care clinical and
community settings; knowledge of primary care transformation to achieve the
Triple Aim.

Previous experience with REDCap, Endnote, and Atlas.ti or other qualitative
analysis software.

Understanding of human subjects protections.



Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range



  1.0 FTE; M-F 8-5; some travel (15%) required; Salary range $60,000 -
$75,000 DOE
