Position Announcement – Open-Rank Tenure Track Faculty Position, Department
of Policy Analysis and Management, Cornell University

The Department of Policy Analysis and Management in the College of Human
Ecology at Cornell University is seeking to hire a faculty member in
Demography and Public Policy. Rank is open. This is a tenure-track
position. The position will involve research and teaching on
population-related topics. The Department of Policy Analysis and Management
provides opportunities to advise and teach undergraduate and graduate
students in population studies and to work with graduate students in the
Cornell Population Center and allied doctoral fields (e.g., Sociology,
Development Sociology, Human Development) in the University. Position is in
an applied multidisciplinary department with core concentrations in the
areas of family and social welfare, health, and consumer policy. Faculty
members are drawn from economics, sociology, health services, public
policy, and other related fields. The department offers a bachelor’s degree
and Ph.D. in public policy and a master’s degree in health administration.
It also offers undergraduate and graduate minors in Demography. The
research environment offers ample opportunity for faculty collaborations,
both within the department and across the university as part of the Cornell
Population Program.

Salary is negotiable, depending on rank, experience, and qualifications.

A Ph.D. in Sociology, Demography, Human Development, Public Health, Public
Policy or allied field is required. Candidates should have a strong
multidisciplinary orientation, with interests in policy-relevant empirical
research and teaching in the area of demography and demographic behavior.

Position Announcement – Assistant Professor of Rural Sociology, Penn State
University



The College of Agricultural Sciences is filling a tenure-track faculty
position in Rural Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor with a 40%
teaching and 60% research appointment. The successful candidate will be
expected to develop an internationally recognized research program that
draws on her/his expertise in rural communities and livelihoods, including
in one or more of the specific areas of community resilience, community
sustainability, community development and community entrepreneurship,
including farm and other businesses and livelihoods. The candidate will
also be expected to teach 3 courses per year in undergraduate or graduate
programs. Ph.D. in rural sociology, sociology, demography, community

Medicine), Michigan State University



The Department of Sociology at Michigan State University seeks candidates
for a 9-month tenure-system position in the Sociology of Health and
Medicine at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning August 16,
2016. We seek candidates with a research focus on health issues, such as
mental health, physical conditions, mortality, health disparities, and
health care service. A Ph.D. in Sociology or related field is required by

Announcement – Postdoctoral Research Associate, Rice University



Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research, Urban Health Program
(UHP), invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral research associate
in Population Health beginning July 1, 2015. The scholar is expected to
work independently and collaboratively on research projects related to
population health disparities, environmental exposures, and community
resources. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will have no teaching or
administrative responsibilities, but will be expected to contribute to
existing projects and develop new lines of research that use data from the
Houston Aerosol Characterization and Health Experiment (HACHE). More
