*Description of Position*



The Opportunity Agenda seeks a skilled Public Opinion and Media Research
Coordinator for its New York office. The Opportunity Agenda is a social
justice communication lab. We are dedicated to the idea that our nation can

collaborate with social justice leaders, bringing communication expertise,
creative engagement, and research to help tell more compelling stories that
drive lasting culture, and policy change.  We work on issues ranging from
criminal justice and immigration to poverty and economic opportunity.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position will manage the
organization’s communication research and analysis.





*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *



   - Working with Opportunity Agenda staff and outside partners to
   determine public opinion and media research and analysis needs;
   - Building organizational knowledge and expertise regarding new and
   established research methodologies;
   - Identifying and analyzing relevant existing public opinion and media
   research;
   - Determining and specifying details of public opinion research
   projects, including sources of information, procedures to be used, and the
   design of survey instruments and materials;
   - Designing, planning, implementing, and interpreting original public
   opinion research, including surveys and focus groups, collaborating or
   coordinating with other researchers when appropriate;
   - Conducting media content analyses, identifying coverage trends, and
   proposing recommendations;
   - Recruiting, securing, and managing consultants to contribute to
   opinion and media research projects when appropriate;
   - Preparing and presenting summaries and analyses of survey data, focus
   group results, and media coverage, including tables, graphs, and fact
   sheets that describe techniques and results;
   - Preparing and delivering briefings for advocates, policymakers,
   funders, and other audiences;
   - Developing projected budgets with vendors and consultants on possible
   projects;
   - Supervising staff and interns on public opinion and media research.
   - Assisting organizational partners in their communications research
   efforts.

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   ·         Bachelor’s degree in
communications, public opinion research, political science, or related
fields. Minimum five years experience. Master’s degree preferred.

   - Formal training and experience in communication research methodology.
   - Ability to design, plan, implement, and interpret original public
   opinion and media research.
   - Ability to analyze complex research data.
   - Ability to translate and communicate technical and complex research
   data into language readily accessible to a variety of audiences, including
   social justice advocates and media.
   - Ability to design and implement research projects.
   - Ability to work with coalitions in the development of research-related
   projects.
   - Ability to design and manage focus groups
   - Ability to prepare and deliver presentations of research findings to a
   variety of audiences.

  SALARY AND BENEFITS:



The salary range for this position will be determined based on experience
and skills.  Health, dental and vision insurance are provided as well as
life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending, and
403(b) retirement accounts. Generous vacation package.
