The candidate *holds a PhD in sociology, demography, geography, economics,
applied statistics, or another relevant discipline*. The candidate has *strong
quantitative research skills* and proven experience with analysing large
(longitudinal) data sets using advanced statistical techniques. Candidates
have an outstanding track record of international, peer-reviewed
publications and experience with attracting research income from research
councils. The candidate has an ability to co-supervise PhD students and has
a good command of English (spoken and written). Excellent project
management and communication skills are regarded as assets.



This is a *full-time, 4**.5 **year Researcher/Senior Researcher position*
(with an initial contract for 1.5 years) within the interdisciplinary and
international Urban Renewal and Housing research group led by Prof. Maarten
van Ham. The researcher will play an active and leading role within the
research group and will develop new avenues of research within the scope of
the research programme and in collaboration with senior staff. The research
group consists of 16 researchers and PhD students, 10 of which are funded
through a large 5-year European Research Council (ERC)-funded grant on
socio-spatial inequality, deprived neighbourhoods, and neighbourhood
effects. The researcher will actively acquire his/her own funding for
research projects and will lead and carry out collaborative projects with
colleagues. The researcher is expected to apply for (large) grants from
national and European Research Councils, Horizon 2020, or comparable. The
researcher will (co-)author research papers for international,
peer-reviewed, citation-indexed journals, present papers at international
conferences, and lead seminars to disseminate research findings. Depending
on the level of experience, the researcher will co-supervise PhD students.
Finally, the researcher will assist in (project) management tasks (maximum
of one day per week).
