Dear Leora,

Could you please distribute these two job ads to the Pop Center listserv?
I believe they would be of particular interest to PhD students and
post-docs affiliated with the center. I am chairing the global health
search, and am happy to answer any questions about working at SIS as a
sociologist/demographer from Berkeley! The deadline for applications for
both searches is Sept. 15.

Thank you very much,
Rachel

*Global Health (1 Assistant Professor)*: We seek an innovative scholar of
global health to join our group of scholars focused on the intersection of
social science and public health. Candidates who study the social,
political, and environmental factors that influence health and the spread
of disease, including cross-cultural patterns of the diffusion of
health-related phenomena, are particularly welcome. A history of external
grant funding will be looked upon favorably, as will those with backgrounds
in medical anthropology or health economics. To apply, visit
apply.interfolio.com/25401, and submit a letter of application, curriculum
vita, three letters of recommendation, recent teaching evaluations (when
possible), and copies of recent published papers or working papers.

*Global Urban Studies (1 Assistant Professor)*: The ideal candidate will
be a scholar specializing in the study of global urbanism. Possible areas
of expertise include (but are by no means limited to) rural-urban
migration; urban governance, infrastructure and planning; globalization and
cities; urban security, violence, and conflict; urban health; and urban
informality. Geographical focus is open: we are interested in scholarship
on cities in the developing world, on cities in countries with higher
levels of human development, or that incorporates various forms of
comparison across regions and other categories. The SIS faculty consists of
a wide range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary orientations; scholars
from any relevant social science discipline are encouraged to apply, as are
scholars with interdisciplinary backgrounds. To apply, visit
apply.interfolio.com/25387, and submit a letter of application, curriculum
vita, three letters of recommendation, recent teaching evaluations (when
possible), and copies of recent published papers or working papers.
