Market Research Statistics Specialist !
Do you love doing deep statistical analysis to answer important business
questions? Can you
create a graph or chart that instantly makes research findings clear? If
so, we are looking for a
person with your skills to join our team. Cross-training will be important,
so interest in the
market research process, data management, and openness to teaching and
learning from
others are also important. !
Responsibilities
The Market Research Analytics team is part of Worldwide Market Research &
Intelligence. The
team is responsible for conducting Apple branded consumer market research.
It is also
responsible for analyzing data from surveys, internal customer data, and
data acquired from
third-party sources. !
The Market Research Statistics Specialist will:
* Use multivariate statistical techniques, such as cluster, factor, and
regression analysis to help
answer business questions and uncover valuable business insights that no
one has even
asked questions about.
* Extract specific pieces of information from existing SPSS data sets as
requested.
* Use Keynote to illustrate research results.
* Come up with ideas for maximizing the business value of the data Apple
already has from
surveys, internal sources and third parties and then execute on those ideas.
* Train other members of the Market Research Analytics team to pull
univariate and bivariate
statistics from SPSS data files so that they can cover for you when needed.
* Be (or become) sufficiently proficient in at least one of the other two
primary functions of
the team (survey implementation and data management) to cover for other
members of the
team as needed. !
Required Talents
* Mastery of multivariate statistics and SPSS.
* 5+ years of experience analyzing market research data, including surveys.
* Fine-tuned ability to iterate back and forth between business questions
and implications and
data and statistical results.
* Demonstrated ability to present findings in a way that retains their
statistical integrity, yet
makes them easy for people without statistical knowledge to grasp.
* Experience with Keynote, including for data visualization.
* Knowledge of Apple products, markets, and consumer trends.
* Able to manage many projects in a fast-paced environment, often under
tight timeframes.
* Bachelor's degree with a heavy quantitative component; Master's degree
Preferred. !

Are you a database expert who is also comfortable with SPSS and statistics?
We are looking for
a person with those skill to join our team. Cross-training will be
important, so interest in the
market research process, data analysis, and openness to teaching and
learning from others are
also important. !
Responsibilities
The Market Research Analytics team is part of Worldwide Market Research &
Intelligence. The
team is responsible for conducting Apple branded consumer market research.
It is also
responsible for analyzing data from surveys, internal customer data, and
data acquired from
third-party sources. !
The Research Data Specialist will:
* Set up the infrastructure for storing data from a large number of surveys
(in many cases,
conducted quarterly and in multiple countries) to allow for easy access
across time,
geographies, and surveys. It's important that this system allow for easy
importing and
exporting from SPSS and survey software.
* Liaise with other parts of Apple to be sure that the structure that is
set up complies with all
Apple requirements and guidelines about data storage and is as
interoperable as possible
with other data sources within the company to make it easy to share data if
/ as needed.
* Query the data to produce SPSS data files that are ready for analysis
without a lot of
reformatting.
* Train other members of the Market Research Analytics team to run simple
queries so that
they can cover for you when needed.
* Be (or become) sufficiently proficient in at least one of the other two
primary functions of
the team (survey implementation and data analysis) to cover for other
members of the team
as needed. !
Required Talents
* Database mastery, including building relatively complex databases.
* A knack for integrating data from different sources and systems and
creating new ways of
doing that as necessary.
* Good working knowledge of at least univariate and bivariate statistics.
* At least moderate SPSS proficiency, including the use of syntax files.
* At least moderate proficiency in R or Python (or other languages that can
communicate with
SPSS and SQL and enhance their functionality), is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of the survey research process, including tracker studies or
panels is highly
desirable.
* Knowledge about Apple products, markets, and consumer trends.
* Able to manage many projects in a fast-paced environment, often under
tight timeframes.
* Computer Science degree preferred.
