Greetings from Cairo

We are about to advertise a P4 post in my unit, the post description and
vacancy  note will be shared once published on the web, however,  I am
seeking your help in spreading the word to those you think may be
interested, the staff is expected to do the followings:

-    Lead the technical preparations for initiating a programme to
strengthen National Health Information Systems (NHIS), including organizing
inter-country meetings and country workshops.

-    Guide EMR Member States in conducting situation analysis of the core
NHIS components to identify gaps and set priorities for NHIS improvement
and guide countries to develop evidence-based national HIS strategies,
based on the regional plan.

-    Conduct analysis to assess the mortality statistics and causes of
death data, and provide technical support to countries in conducting data
quality assessment using WHO standard tools.

-    Provide guidance to Member States in registration and certification of
causes of deaths and ICD coding.

-    Promote and introduce Sample Vital Registration with Verbal Autopsy
(SAVVY), the WHO standard verbal Autopsy tool, and automated methods for
ascertaining causes of death in settings where medical certification is not
available.

-    Guide and support countries to improve national capacity to collect,
compile, assess, analyse and disseminate the regional core and extended
indicators’ lists and country specific indicators.

-    Provide technical guidance to countries and technical programmes in
designing and analysis of household and facility surveys and other
observational studies.

-    Coordinate country consultations on mortality, life-table, and causes
of deaths estimates generated by WHO and UN interagency groups

-    Promote the regional office efforts in advocacy and resource
mobilization for NHIS strengthening and develop proposal for funding
