The Collegio Carlo Alberto (Centro di Ricerca e Alta Formazione), an interd
isciplinary research centre in economics and social sciences (http://www.c

ctoral research positions associated to the ERC financed research project  o

The project concerns subjective well-being (SWB) and demographic behaviour,
with a particular focus on fertility in advanced societies, across time and
space. Its implementation relies upon secondary   data  sources,   both  lon
gitudinal and  comparative in  nature.  The   project  is interdisciplinary
 and touches  on several dimensions  of social sciences, including  demogra
phy, economics, sociology, gender studies, psychology and social policy.

Under the supervision of the PI, the Post-doc researchers will be responsib
le for the day-to-day running of the project and contribute to its  successf
ul  completion through data management statistical analysis, writing up scie
ntific papers, as well as dissemination of findings. The position does not i
nclude any teaching.

The Candidate

*  The candidates should have a strong postgraduate degree (or be close to f
inal submission) in a relevant area such as demography,   applied statistics,
 econometrics  or  economics, psychology,  quantitative sociology,  applied
statistics,  computer science (or  any related discipline) - and have strong
quantitative skills. Knowledge of advanced applied statistical methods  and
econometric  techniques,  including panel data and  multilevel regression te
chniques  is  necessary.  Expert  knowledge of  STATA,   SAS     and  other
programming  languages is a benefit. Knowledge of large scale data set, such
as the GGS, EU-SILC, GSOEP, BHPS, Understanding Society, SHARE, HRS, HILDA,
ESS or PSID, would also be an advantage.

*  Excellent English writing skills required

The positions

*  Full-time contract for one year, renewable for up to 3 more years.

*  Salary:  the gross  annual salary  is  in the range 26,000 to 36,000 euros
 according  to individual experience

*   The  posts  will be based  at Collegio  Carlo  Alberto (in Moncalieri, n
ear Turin,  I).  The candidate will have full access to events and facilitie
s hosted at the Collegio.

Recruitment calendar and selection procedure

*  Interviews (face to face or - in exceptional cases - via Skype) for short
listed candidates will be held in April 2014

*  The positions are available immediately, but start date is negotiable.

*  The candidates will be evaluated by the recruitment committee comprising
project team members and other members from the Collegio Carlo Alberto.

Collegio Carlo Alberto is a foundation created in 2004 as a joint initiative
of the Compagnia di San Paolo Bank Foundation and the University of Torino. Its
mission is to foster research and teaching in economics, finance, political
science and, in general, in social sciences. The Faculty Fellows contribute
to a dynamic research environment involving residential faculty of the Unive
rsity of Torino, faculty hired on the international academic job market,
senior research fellows and visiting scholars.
